Robert (yeah, that would be me) is organizing a series of Panopticon interventions in the loop in downtown Chicago. These will be short and mobile, and all occurring in surveilled locations having to do with human motion: L stops, elevators, and revolving doors. For the most part these locations do not lend themselves to large groups, but if others are interested in joining me I have some structures in mind that would very nicely accommodate even very large groups.
We will be dancing to music from small personal audio systems that are actually carried on the leader’s body inside the shirt. They sound remarkably good, and I have used them before in many of my tango interventions. They are quite loud enough to dance to, but not so loud as to bother businesses or other pedestrians and they make an intervention completely mobile.
I am looking for a dance partner for this action, so if anyone knows of an adventurous follower in the Chicago area who would be interested in this event please let me know.
It would also be great if somebody in Chicago could come along and shoot some video or digital still documentation.
Please email me if you can help. Tangointervention@gmail.com
Exact times and locations to be announced soon.
